The film follows a unit of Czech customs officers as they carry out an increasing number of routine random checks at the height of the refugee crisis in Europe. While there are no refugee camps or violent conflicts on Czech territory, the majority of the population has a very clear view on the whole issue, which often leads to extremism. The unit is no exception and each individual interprets his role and service to the state in his own way.
During one of the inspections, the unit commander discovers a group of immigrants in the cargo area of a van. A young boy takes advantage of the chaotic intervention and escapes on his own into the nearby woods. The order is to make an impromptu interception and find the boy quickly. But his father boycotts the search and refuses to help find his son. The unit becomes aggressive towards the detainees and the commander comes into conflict with his own men. He tries to resolve the situation according to the rules and not to succumb to the pressure of his surroundings. However, his own conscience confronts him with the limits of the system he represents.
The film won the Best Director award at FAMUfest 2021, was nominated for the 2020 Magnesia Award and the 2020 Czech Lion for Best Short Film.
