Animot

Feinkošt 2022

original title: Animot

directed by: Juliana Moska

year: 2021

duration: 18 minutes

country: Czechia

The experimental documentary, filmed at rescue stations in Prague and Vlašim, abandons the anthropocentric view and observes the world through the humble eyes of injured animals. The term "animot" is borrowed from Jacques Derrida. While the French philosopher and deconstructivist used it to refer to everything animal and non-human, the film, in its intimate details, points instead to the closeness of man to the animal. Both are united by helplessness, vulnerability and mortality.

The film was nominated for the Best Czech Animated Film Award at the International Documentary Film Festival Ji.hlava 2021.
